Mota Khijadiya (Tal: Paddhari), Effective works done at Makaji Meghpar (Tal: Kalavad), Last days of the life at Paddhari (Dist: Rajkot), Study at Sanskrut Pathshala (Jamnagar). From the early childhood itself he was keen to update himself about the happings in the world around; desperate to know the patriotic activities by self visiting. In that time of Kings and Kingdoms, at the age of 13 years, he have represented a self-made poem at a cultural function. By getting encouraged with the award he recieved for the same, he wrote his first story "Hraday Palto", which was published in "Modh Bandhu". He then decided to dedicate his life to the authoring of quality literature, and wrote a five hundred lines poem named "Tanya" which was based on bravery theme. Vajubhai Shukla bring it to Mumbai with him. A reporter named Amrutlal Sheth was inspired by the poem and he called the author Mumbai, and introduced him with noted litertuers of the city. By the guidence of Kanaiyalal Munshi and blessings of Smt. Leelavati Munshi, he have authored his first Short Sotry collection named "Jeevan Chhaya" and get it published. His first novel was "Ramkali". The voyage (in the field of literature) was continued for the next five dacades then after.

Late Harilal Upadhyay was keep in continuous touch of Charan Poets, Storytellers and writers till 1942 and have weaved various genre of literature during his career.

He used to visiting the Dayras (social ceremonies) at remarkable places and keep the stuff about folklores, poems and poetries updated and well documented with him. It was his way to experience the folk literature.

He was a soft at heart poet. He was well aware and experienced with the folk traditions. He studied well the history of Saurashtra, Gujarat and India. His way of writing and language used within was interesting too.

He have presented a self authored poem and he got awarded for the same in that event. He was active as an author till the end of his life. He was the chief guest of the annual function of "Maniben Sanskrut Pathshala - Paddhari) on the previous day of his death. In fact, he have started a new creation (book) before just a few moments of his death.

Harilal Upadhyay, who have devoted his life to clean and referenceable literature, used to wrote on the regular bases in Sahkaar, Kismat, JyotirVignan and others. He have also conquered the "JyotirVignan Sanshodhan Award" (Award for the research in the field of Astrology). In his lovely memories Paddhari village, where he lived the last segment of his life, have shown gratitude by naming "Paniyari Sheri" as "Late Harilal Upadhyay Road".

In the loving memory of Late Shri Harilalbhai, his discendents are running various activities like encouraging writers and researchers and giving awards to them. Shri Yashvantbhai Upadhyay, who is a writer cum reasearcher himself does remarkable work for the same.

In addition in the loving memory of Late Shri Harilalbhai, his grandson Jiten Upadhyay (Paddhari) run a website named http://www.harilalupadhyay.org. It is the first in its kind website about any Gujarati Author (or might be any Indian Author), which is running as a tribute to the author. And interestingly by his discendent.
